The historical City of St Albans has a fine selection of high street and boutique shops, for the more traditional shopper visit during market days to find a fine array of market stalls. St Albans has an abundance of fine restaurants and coffee houses and is also the City with the most number of pubs within a square mile. If you are looking to relax there are plenty of leisure facilities and services, choose a golf course, tennis centre or leisure club, in addition St Albans has all the very latest services from the health and beauty industries, you will be spoilt for choice!
St Albans is not only famous for its past, but also for its present in the music, theatre and arts worlds. There are a range of music venues, theatres, galleries and exhibitions to take part in, or be entertained by; throughout the year.
As usual, the Radio Verulam team has been out and about around the area throughout the year taking part in local festivals and fairs. We had a great time at the Harpenden Carnival and the Radlett Village Fayre (on the hottest day of the year so far!) and we really enjoyed the St Albans Festival and the Food & Drink Festival which have now sadly finished. Then we joined the brave people who turned out for the Shenley Fete in an appalling downpour. But the show went on - so well done to everyone who did come along! But the biggest event was definitely the Harpenden Highland Gathering which attracted over 20,000 people. Thanks to everyone who came over to say hello - great to know you are listening! Do keep tuned in for a run down of all your local events throughout the year. And, now you can let us know what you think about our programmes by joining our Listeners' Discussion Group - see details below.
