Meet at 9.30 in the Dell Wood car park Grid ref. TQ034970 Post code: WD3 5SL
This is a small nature reserve of woodland, meadows and a pleasant walk along the River Chess. Always a rewarding site, during our visit in March 2011 evidence of the start of the nesting season was all around. Two blue tits were carrying nesting materials into the hollow trunk of a dead tree. Three dunnocks were setting up home in the fallen branches around a huge tree stump. A water rail and moorhen dispute a prime nesting site on the banks of the River Chess; the water rail won. Overall some 29 species were seen.
