Radio Verulam celebrates International Women’s Day
We’re joining the worldwide celebrations for International Women’s Day on March 8th which this year has the theme “Press for Progress”.
The day starts with ‘Good Morning St Albans’, where Kerry Cobb and Lady Jen will be holding a party in the studio from 8am when they invite local business women from Sherrards Solicitors, Boots, Cellar Door Wines, Holiday Inn Express, JPA Furniture, Herts Chamber of Commerce and many more to join them to kick start a fabulous day. The guests will be choosing the tunes and the Courtyard Cafe will be open early to provide caffeine and cake.
Following that, Nick Hazell’s “Verulam in the Morning” will feature guest editors from Soroptimist International St Albans, discussing Women and Women’s issues and the theme continues throughout the day.
In the evening slots, Danny Smith’s guest on West Herts Drivetime will be Franki Berry, reporter with the Herts Advertiser.
The Parents’ Show at 8pm features great local women creating wonderful ideas for families – local author Stacey Turner writes books to support children’s mental health, Ruby is the founder of WUKA Period Pants (the world’s most comfortable, hygienic, luxurious and eco-friendly period underwear) and finally Kat Shaw who has created the Happy Teen Wellbeing Weekender.
At 9pm The Generation Gap will include the views of some “Generation Z” Year 6 (10/11 year old) pupils on work and whether girls & woman can do any jobs, and Darrell Andrews’ “Backtracking to the 80’s” closes the day’s celebrations with all tracks by female artists.
